Bazeen in an Arabic music band whose members are Adnan Jasim on the Oud, Bryan Bale on Dumbek and our own Raj Harrous on Riq and Cajon.

Bazeen plays all types of Arbic music traditional and modern. This Sunday they will be playing the tradition style on instruments like the Oud, Dumbek and the Riq.

Bazeen has played at many festivals and venues and has been part of Utah Living Traditions festival for the past 34 years ( yes we are old). They have also played at the Utah Summer Dance Festival, Mondays in the Park , and Rakkasah.

Sofie Zane

Sofrona Zane grew up in a small town in Maine. She first learned electric bass in 7th grade for her middle school jazz band, and spent every spare moment in high school performing. She studied singing and upright bass at Oakland University in Michigan, performing with orchestras, opera companies and in jazz clubs.

She has a great love for large-scale classical choral works and continues to perform a myriad of musical styles on an increasing number of instruments.

She is currently teaching elementary-level strings in Sandy and managing a local folk band, Reel Folk.

Sofie is grateful to be sharing uplifting messages through music!

Mixed Blessings Choir, Rich Smith Conductor

Mixed Blessings Choir

The age-old idiom, “mixed blessing,” remains useful when describing certain experiences that have advantages AND disadvantages. Many would say that a ‘church choir’ qualifies as a mixed blessing.

Well, not this one.

When WE say “mixed,” we mean a mix of humanity, personality, and individuated souls, “mixed” together in a joyful, musical ‘stew’ to demonstrate the beauty and power of community united in loving intention to move and inspire others with the universal language of song!

When WE say “blessings,” we mean that every one of us is Love-in-action, shining our Light, and expressing our soul-filled selves for the Highest Good of All. One of our favorite ways to be a blessing is to sing together in unity and harmony, to open the hearts of everyone who hears us, and joyfully welcome them to join with us!

Rich Smith, Conductor

Rich Smith is an accomplished composer, orchestrator, producer, teacher, and conductor. His talents and skills have earned him teaching positions in Utah, the Midwest, and New England.

He has numerous professional conducting gigs, recording projects, commissioned

composition/arranging projects, and production contracts in Hollywood to his credit. He currently teaches voice and piano privately, by appointment, and is working on a soundtrack/score for Hallmark TV. We are so grateful to have Rich Smith as our “Mixed Blessings Choir” conductor/arranger.

The Salt Lake Center for Spiritual Living Youth Ministry empowers and inspires children in a safe and nurturing environment. We use books, music and creative projects to teach principles such as Love, Creativity, Affirmation, Nature, Community, Mindfulness, Giving and Receiving.

All teachers and assistants are background checked. Two adults are with the children at all times.

Because of the low youth population currently in our Center, Youth Church is only meeting once a month.  Please arrive no later than 11:15 AM; after that, if there were no other children, the teacher will have joined the Sunday Service, which you are invited to do.  When the community need and youth population increase, we will reconsider how often the youth meet.
