Kopo Magic

 Kopo Magic plays harp, percussion, ukulele and flute. 

He believes music is a powerful, multi-dimensional, vibrational energy that brings healing through sound-waves and creative expression. He believes this because Music has healed him. 

Kopo's objective is to 'hug' you with his music and then 'move' you to a transcendent space of Love, Light, Wholeness and All things Good.

Melanie Menlove has enjoyed singing with her little sister, DelAnne, for the past 40 years. Music has always been where she finds peace and her breath and inspiration.  In her free time, Melanie loves to get dirt under her fingernails, play a good game of cards and travel with her husband.  She is a poet, composer, photographer and Lord of the Rings fanatic.  She lives with her husband and trio of animals that includes a bossy parrot.”  

DelAnne Haslam was born the youngest of five and at age 3 began performing with the family band The Jessop Family Singers. She hasn’t stopped performing since. She loves to sing all genres of music and has sung in children’s groups, choirs, commercials, operas, plays, sporting events, and bands. But her favorite gig is singing with The Center for Spiritual Living Band every Sunday morning. 

DelAnne was introduced to the Center For Spiritual Living in 2014 when she and her sister were looking to add some spiritual community into their lives. Ric and the band kept them coming back long enough to hear the Science of Mind message and she was hooked. She took the foundations class and a few other courses and then began singing with Kopo on Sundays in 2015. She even spent a few months as music director before she took a much-needed hiatus in 2016. In 2017 Ric invited her back as special music and then invited her to stay on with the band. 

 Blake Sharette is a composer, arranger, conductor, performer, and producer native to Salt Lake City, Utah.  He is classically trained in vocal and violin performance.  Blake is also proficient on guitar and piano. 

He has extensive and eclectic performance experience including Tabernacle Choir soloist, lead guitarist for an 80's tribute band, singing and playing with Kurt Bestor, Michael Martin Murphy, and the legendary rock band, Kansas. 

Blake is the founder and director of the Deseret Symphony Orchestra, SingUtah, and Black Tie Talent. Blake's mission is to make the world a better place by creating and performing uplifting music!  

Jim Bizer has been gigging since age 14 and a career musician all of his adult life; Jim's been around the musical block. He's an accomplished musician with a restless imagination.  His songs are a unique blend of humor, catchy melodies, and his personal view of the essential craziness of being human.

Growing up in Detroit, Jim was exposed to (and fascinated by) an eclectic, broad spectrum of music.  Educated on French horn, self-taught on guitar and piano, he studied music theory at the University of Michigan before embarking on an equally varied music career: cover musician, session player, composer for radio spots and TV series.  

A songwriter since his early teens, it took some time and experience to make this his primary focus - Once he did, he quickly earned accolades winning many national songwriting competitions.  

Jim Bizer writes songs about life - love, connection, insanity and natural disasters...and in it all, he inspires hope, compassion, and a greater wisdom. 

Desert Wind is a band of musicians performing uplifting world-beat music. Reb Alan is a prolific songwriter. With 12 CDs and numerous digital singles now selling world-wide through iTunes, Amazon, CD Baby, etc., they have over five more CDs of original music in the completion stages of production. 

(Reb Alan has hundreds of original copyrighted songs registered through BMI.) Andalin is the recipient of the prestigious national Selmer Award for Excellence in Jazz Performance. Alan and Andalin have worked together, and with our own Raj Harrous, for over 25 years, and the three of them have performed together in many states from California to Massachusetts! They are frequent performers for Ruach Hamidbar in Scottsdale, AZ. 

Versatile and fun-loving, Desert Wind is all about peace, harmony and inclusiveness. Their music is reported to, "passionately lift your spirits with the perfect choice of notes, lyrics, vocals, instrumentation, diverse musical styles and international rhythms." At SLCSL, Desert Wind looks forward to working with Ric Sharette and others of our own amazing house band. It's time to unwind with the music of Desert Wind!

Will Baxter is a Salt Lake City based musician with a style inspired by the blues.    

  Bazeen is an Arabic music band whose members are Adnan Jasim on the Oud, Bryan Bale on Dumbek and our own Raj Harrous on Riq and Cajon. 

Bazeen plays all types of Arbic music traditional and modern. This Sunday they will be playing the tradition style on instruments like the Oud, Dumbek and the Riq.

Bazeen has played at many festivals and venues and has been part of Utah Living Traditions festival for the past 34 years ( yes we are old). They have also played at the Utah Summer Dance Festival, Mondays in the Park , and Rakkasah.

  Mel Soul is a singer/songwriter from Orem, UT. She has been trained by vocal professionals, Rebecca Chock and Mindy Pack. 

In 2009 she had the extraordinary opportunity to sing with her high school's Chamber Singers at Carnegie Hall in New York City.  After high school, Mel began working with songwriter professionals including Rich Parkinson, Shane Adams, Johnny London and most recently, the talented Natasha Bedingfield. 

Her goal as a songwriter and performer is to inspire her fans to love themselves and everyone else. 

Shawn Gallaway is a two-time Global Peace Song Award winning singer/songwriter, visual artist, speaker/facilitator, energetic healer, and author of the book (and song), "I Choose Love".  Shawn currently resides in Nashville, TN, and continues to tour, sharing his passion for healing through the arts and transformational music all over the world.  You can find his art and music on his website: www.shawngallaway.com 

 Dan Waldis and Mark Chaney are individually renowned in the Salt Lake City music scene!  They have performed together countless times too - mostly jazz venues, and ALWAYS creating silly mischief no matter the occasion.  

Dan Waldis has been an adjunct assistant professor of jazz piano at the University of Utah, teaching, composing, arranging jazz music - and taking opportunities to play for Bobby McFerron or Winton Marselis.  He has been a vital part of the music program at Unity of Salt Lake for many years.  

Mark "Drums" Chaney has taught drums professionally for 50+ years, and he's played with several groups around the state, including the fabulous Saliva Sisters!  Mark sings also, and presents a hilarious (and quite believable!) Elvis impersonation!  Together, Dan and Mark are absolutely inspiring and entertaining. 

  Chamaigne Sharette began her professional music career while still in high school, as a back-up vocalist for many Seattle folk, rock, and blues artists, including Janis Joplin’s lead guitarist.  In addition to recording projects for these groups, she has worked as a session musician, doing lead vocals for song writer demos and internationally marketed multi-media projects. 

When she moved to Austin to pursue her singing career, Chamaigne found work doing singing telegrams as a Marilyn Monroe impersonator, entertaining children as the Fairy Godmother, collaborating with dance troupes as "The Singing Belly Dancer", singing in a Reggae band, and performing at weddings and church services. 

She spent a few years as the lead vocalist in an original world-rock band, and also has a particular love for old-fashioned torch songs.  However, the real love of her life is spiritual music from all traditions.  

Since 2000, Chamaigne has been involved in healing music as a singer, songwriter, Music Director, and creator of music-and-message programs in a variety of contexts including interfaith, New Thought, Christian, Vedic and secular. It is her mission to use music to facilitate healing and harmony. 

  Michael Bolz hails from Michigan's Upper Peninsula.  

He graduated from Northern Michigan University with degrees in music and psychology.  He plays keyboard, bass guitar and bamboo flute.  He is also a songwriter and arranger, but he is most profoundly recognized for his rich, lyrical basso singing voice.  

Mike has lent his talents to several musical productions as well, where distinctive voice, inherent sensitivity, quick wit and expressive personality really shine.

 The Other Side Academy is a place that has saved our lives.

 Many of us came here from backgrounds of addiction, crime, homelessness, or incarceration, but at the Academy, we found a community that believes in redemption and teaches us how to build a new life with integrity, accountability, and love. 

The choir is a reflection of that journey. It brings us together in a way we never expected, giving us space to connect, to create, and to express the hope we’re learning to carry. Our voices tell the story of where we came from and where we are choosing to go now. 

We are also here because of Gayle, a cherished member of our community whose heart, support, and belief in us mean more than she knows. Through the Academy, the choir, and people like Gayle, we are learning what it truly means to live again.

 Rob Wallace has been a committed spiritual aspirant and bhakti yoga practitioner since 2003.  He leads a group, "Meditation SLC" focused on personal growth and spiritual connection.  Rob is gratefully drawn to be in the vibrant company of other spiritually-minded people.  He is excited to lead us in some participatory singing and will be accompanied by the talented hand drummer/percussionist, Chris Bowers!

 Lezlee Monroe's journey is like no one else's and everyone else's.  She was born and raised in Cache Valley, Utah and started singing, playing piano and writing music when she was just six years old. Through the years she became aware of how she was avoiding her true voice even as a singer because of pain, trauma and incorrect beliefs she had picked up along the way which continually veered her off her inner joy-path. She followed her curiosity in the healing arts and studied to become a Rapid Eye Technician, a trauma release healing modality to assist others and her own healing journey.  On this journey, music was and is there all the way.  Music, as you know, is a powerful healer.  Lezlee is a singer/songwriter/keyboardist.  Lezlee is a healer.  And, from The Book of Lezlee: The purpose of life is to have fun!
